TeleHobbies R/C, Inc. P.O. Box 1149 Rockwall, Texas 75087-1149
We were a real hobby shop for radio controlled airplanes, cars, boats, and helicopters! Our hobby shop was located at 2530 Interstate 30 East, in Rockwall, Texas. We are not a mail-order company or a manufacturer. We were just a hobby shop...dedicated to radio controlled modeling and supporting modelers!
We Have Closed Our Hobby Shop Due To Unfair Competition From Our Suppliers. They Sold Their Products To Us At A Certain Price And Then Sold Them To The Public For Less.
Thank you for visiting our WEB site!History
TeleHobbies R/C began in 1989 as what we believe was the first computer bulletin board system (BBS) to commercially support radio controlled model enthusiasts. Our name comes from that beginning. We have since outgrown the name (TeleHobbies Automotive Center doesn't really project the proper image) and have been looking for a new name for several years. In 1990, we moved to Texas and opened our first retail hobby shop in a Wal-Mart shopping center in Rockwall. In 1995, we moved to our current location at 2530 Interstate 30 East, in Rockwall (see directions to our facilities below). We now occupy a two acre lot with one building which houses all our businesses. We intended to construct an outdoor R/C car road-racing track on the lot, but we could not muster the support of sufficient racers in the area to justify the costs at that time. During our first few years in Texas, we provided a flying field to our customers totally free of charge. We constructed it, we paid the lease, and we maintained it. In 1994, we lost it due to a complaint from a single landholder nearby who said he could not sell his property with a flying field "next door." In 1996, we shut down our BBS in order to devote full attention to our WEB site. In October of 1998, we moved to our currect WEB site. Our former site became unreliable and offered only limited features.TeleHobbies R/C
Our business is based on honesty and integrity! If you have a question, please ask. We will answer to the best of our ability and will not try to impress you with our knowledge of our profession, nor will we attempt to sell you items you do not want or need. We are here to serve you in the best, friendliest manner possible. We are NOT a mail-order company! We have always encouraged hobbyists to support their local hobby shops. Mail-order companies have caused the fall of many local hobby shops in the past and will continue to do so in the future. If you like having a local shop where you can buy fuel, hardware, etc., and can see what you are buying, you must give that shop your support. They cannot continue to be there for you if you make your major purchases somewhere else. If you do not have a local hobby shop, we suggest you find a service, such as TeleHobbies R/C, of course, who will work with you on a personal level and support you from afar, rather than making blind purchases from huge, multi-million dollar impersonal corporations. TeleHobbies R/C, like many hobby shops, is family owned. It started as a father and son team who enjoyed R/C modeling. We have operated at a loss for over seven years. We are not in the hobby shop business to get rich...it will never happen! We are there because we enjoy the hobby and we enjoy helping others who enjoy the hobby. We carry all major brands of R/C equipment except those exclusive items from Horizon Hobby Distributors. (We had a minor disagreement with Horizon and they employed an under-handed, unethical lawyer who tricked us (and the court system) into paying her thousands of dollars (Horizon got nothing)). Therefore, we no longer carry JR radios, Saito engines, Dynamite accessories, and a few others, except for the items we have left in stock. Other than these, if we do not have the merchandise you want in stock, we are happy to order it for you. This includes major items as well as replacement parts. Our prices are competitive with mail-order companies.TeleHobbies Automotive Center
In August of 1997, the name was changed to Pro-Techs Automotive Center. In operation since mid 1994, the TeleHobbies Automotive Center has built on the reputation we developed in the hobby business: friendly, honest service with a lot of integrity. We service and repair all makes and models of "full-scale" cars, trucks, and motorcycles at a fraction of what most others charge. Just about the only work we do not do is body work. We also offer a discount on most parts we use. We do engine and transmission rebuilding, suspension work, brakes, electrical work, and computer diagnosis. If you are tired of being "ripped off" by other repair shops and dealers, and are in the Dallas / Greenville area, look us up!TeleHobbies Racing
On weekends we race a "street stock" dirt car at local tracks in Greenville and Royse City. The car is black with red trim and a white number 05 on the sides. Cris Tranter is the owner and driver. The pit crew consists of Harold Tranter, Jason Tylenda, and Mike ("Mud Man") Newland. We also sponsored Don Fowler and his number 29 street stock machine. We built the engine and did all the pit work. Photos of these cars appear on our WEB pages. In cooperation with North Texas Motor Speedway in Royse City, Texas, we publish race results usually within six to thirty hours after an event. We also publish accumulated points totals and scheduled events for the track.
