2000 Street Stock Rules
As received January 21, 2000, from Speedway Management
General:
All components are subject to inspection and approval of inspecting officials. No equipment will be considered as having been approved by reason of having passed through inspection unobserved.
:DURING THE 2000 RACE SEASON WE WILL BLEND THE RULES THAT WERE LEGAL LAST YEAR WITH THE 2000 I.M.C.A.
RULES - CALL FOR INFORMATION
Terms:
The term "stock O.E.M." means that the item/part must have been a standard part/item on the MAKE and MODEL of the vehicle being driven as a race car. Just because a part is manufactured by the company that manufactured the vehicle does NOT mean the part is legal. The part must have been available on the specific vehicle being used as a race car.
Chassis:
- Any U.S. manufactured Full Body Rear Wheel Drive Passenger Car, 1960 or newer
- Commercial Vehicles, convertibles, sports cars, Novas. Camaros, or Firebirds ARE NOT ALLOWED
- Plating of the frame is NOT allowed.
- General Motors unibody cars must have the original wheelbase (110 inch minimum). Ford, Chrysler, and AMC unibody cars must have a 108-inch minimum wheelbase (NOTE: May tie rear frame to front frame). 1978 or newer full frame cars may be 108-inch wheelbase minimum. Stock frame must match body for GM cars, year to year and make to make. 1980 or newer Ford unibodies may be replaced with Ford full frames. (NOTE: May be shortened to 108-inch minimum) Frames and cross members may not be altered in any way for engine replacement. Motors must be in stock location. Metric frames and Ford frames must have the back of the fuel pump in front of the crossmember. Crossmember may not be altered in any way. FRAMES MAY BE "X" BRACED.
Weight:
The minimum weight, including driver, is 3,400 pounds. Any added weight must be securely bolted or welded to the car.
Suspension:
- The front suspension must be A-frame type. It must have O.E.M. hubs, (except the right front may be safety, truck, or heavy duty type hub).
- Front and rear suspension must remain stock and in their original location.
- Heavy duty shocks will be allowed. Only one (1) shock per wheel.
- The suspension may not be reinforced.
- Weight jacks or aftermarket racing parts are NOT allowed.
- The suspension may not be modified in any way other than the right front hub.
Body:
- Stock! No body modifications are allowed except to secure clearance for driver protection bars in doors. Body must be neat and complete in appearance.
- All body chrome, glass, plastic, and interior must be removed. All headlights, parking lights, and tail lights assemblies must be removed. All doors and trunks must be welded or bolted closed.
- Body must have an acceptable metal stock front and rear firewalls. All holes in the firewalls must be sealed with metal.
- Full stock O.E.M. floorboards, trunk floor, and rear fender wells are required.
- Nerf bars are optional, but if used, the bar must be within one (1) inch of the body and be turned inside to the body at the ends. No sharp edges allowed.
- All cars must be brightly painted in colors that contrast with the car number.
- Numbers must be at least 24 inches high and 4 inches wide on both sides, the top, and rear of the car. Numbers must be painted in a professional manner and be easily readable from across the track at the judges stand.
- The track reserves the right to request the body sheet metal be replaced and repainted should it become bent too badly.
Steering:
- The stock O.E.M. steering box must be in the original stock location on the frame.
- The steering wheel may be moved. Center steering is NOT allowed.
- Steering reduction by use of chain and sprockets, or by use of a steering reduction box may be used.
- The steering wheel and driver must remain on the left side of the driveshaft hump. Modification of the driveshaft hump is NOT allowed.
- No rear seat drivers.
Engine:
- Any automotive engine originally produced by an American manufacturer for passenger car use can be used, not to exceed eight (8) cylinders and not to exceed one (1) intake and one (1) exhaust valve per cylinder.
- The make is optional, but must be stock for the make, model, and year of car.
- The engine must remain in the stock location. Cutting or extensions of the firewalls to accommodate the engine is NOT allowed.
- Only cast iron blocks may be used. Bowtie blocks are NOT allowed.
- Maximum displacement, including clearance and wear is stock for make and year of car.
- O.E.M. cast iron heads only. Heads must be factory drilled straight plug. No GM angled plug, bowtie, Dart or Chrysler W-2 heads permitted. No aluminum heads.
- Porting, polishing, or port matching of heads is NOT allowed. Grinding or polishing in the valve bowl area is NOT allowed. Heads may be surfaced.
- Only O.E.M. crankshaft and connecting rods are permitted. Must maintain stock stroke. Aftermarket racing parts are NOT allowed. Sleeved-back engines are NOT allowed.
- Only flat top pistons are permitted.
- Racing cams, roller cams, gear drives, mushroom or roller lifters, overhead cams are NOT allowed. Only O.E.M. parts for the crankshaft and valve train are permitted.
- Carburetor - One (1) American manufactured two (2) barrel or one (1) American manufactured four (4) barrel carburetor is required. The carburetor must bolt to a stock cast iron intake manifold, without alteration of mounting hole pattern and without any adapter or spacer plates. Only one (1) gasket with a maximum of .250 inch thickness may be installed between the intake manifold and the carburetor. No modification (cutting, polishing, grinding, or matching) can be made to the carburetor. The choke hardware may be removed. Holley or dual line double pumper carburetors are NOT allowed. GM cars must use a Rochester carb, Fords must use a Motorcraft or Autolite carb, and Chryslers must use a Carter carb. (Note: The carburetor or intake manifold may be claimed for $75.00 - The same rules as the engine claim apply.)
- Only a stock O.E.M. cast iron intake manifold is permitted. Porting, port matching, polishing, or any other modifications are NOT allowed. "Hi-rise" or marine intakes were not available on the stock automobiles being driven as street stocks and are not to be used at NTMS.
- Only battery type ignition in the stock location is permitted. Magnetos, dual points, MSD type boxes or any other aftermarket electronic ignitions are NOT allowed.
- The use of fuel injection, super or turbo chargers, nitrous oxide, water injection, and/or electric fuel pumps will NOT be allowed.
Safety:
- All cars are subject to safety inspection at any time. They must be free from mechanical defects and be in safe racing condition at all times.
- MANDATORY - Minimum three (3) inch wide safety belt and shoulder harness with two (2) belts over the shoulder and of the quick release type. Also, a minimum of one (1) submarine strap. All belts must be securely fastened to the frame or cage.
- MANDATORY - Shock resistant roll bar padding must be placed on all bars that the driver's head may come in contact with while strapped in the seat.
- Two throttle return springs and a steel toe loop on the throttle pedal are recommended.
- Fire extinguishers - All crews must carry operable fire extinguishers capable of putting out fuel and oil fires. Onboard flame-out systems are recommended for the car.
Brakes:
Must have O.E.M. hubs and brakes with a minimum of two (2) wheel brakes in good working order. Three or four wheel brakes are recommended.
Wheels:
- Only steel wheels are permitted. The rim width must not exceed eight (8) inches.
- Reinforcing of wheels is permitted. All wheels must be secured to the hubs with five - one (1) inch lug nuts.
- Bleed-off valves are NOT allowed. Only one (1) valve stem permitted per wheel.
- Rim or bead locks are NOT allowed. Screwing of tires to wheel is permitted.
Tires:
- Maximum 11 inch section width street type passenger car tires must be used. Tire width will be checked by track gauge. Tires must have D.O.T. numbers and tread design. Special racing tires, duals, knobbies, mud, snow, off-road tires or recaps are NOT allowed.
- New Rule for 2000, all cars must run on right rear the McCREARY G-60 American Racer with I.M.C.A. stamped on sidewall.
- Modifications of any type are NOT allowed, including grooving.
Mufflers:
Not required at this time, but cars should be built to allow installation of mufflers if they become necessary. Car must use stock cast iron exhaust manifolds. Ram horn type exhaust manifolds are NOT allowed.
Roll Cage:
- A steel roll cage is mandatory.
- The bars must be made from a minimum 1-1/2 inch O.D. x .120 inch wall thickness tubing.
- The front and rear roll bars must be connected at the top (cage top).
- Driver protection door bars are required. At least three (3) bars must be run from the front upright to the rear upright of the roll cage in both doors. The inside door panels may be cut to obtain clearance for the door bars. Forward and rearward bars may protrude through the front and rear firewallls for additional support.
- Front loops and radiator protection bars are permitted but must be inside the grill.
- All corners in the roll cage must have gussets.
- Proper triangulation and bracing on the front and rear of the roll cage is required.
Rear End:
Must be stock. The rear end may be locked by welding spyder gears, spool, or whatever means. GN type floaters and/or quick change rear ends are NOT allowed. Ford "9 inch" rear ends are permitted on all cars.
Transmission:
- Only automatic transmissions are permitted, stock for make and model. Must have a minimum 11 inch torque converter.
- Cars must have a self starter with a neutral and reverse gear in operational order. From a neutral position with the engine running, the car must be able to go forward and backward.
- Standard transmissions are NOT allowed.
- Driveshafts must be painted white and two (2) safety loops are recommended.
Bumpers:
Full stock front and rear bumpers are required. The bumpers must have rounded ends with no sharp edges. Trailer hitches are NOT allowed.
Fuel Tank:
- One (1) six (6) gallon maximum fuel tank (12 gallon if an approved fuel cell) may be used.
- The tank must be mounted in the trunk area and not visable from the exterior.
- Pressure tanks are NOT allowed on fuel systems.
- Fuel lines running through the driver's compartment must be protected by rubber tubing. Cast iron fittings are NOT allowed. Only fuel type hose may be used for fuel lines. Steel braided line is recommended.
- Electric fuel pumps are NOT allowed.
- Trunk floor may not be removed, but must have a way of letting spilled gas or fumes escape, such as drain holes.
Fuel:
Only pump gasoline may be used as fuel. No additives.
Radiator:
Only one (1) radiator is permitted at it must be centered in front of the engine in a vertical position. Auxiliary cooling tanks are NOT allowed.
Battery:
The battery must be securely mounted and covered with sheet rubber. The battery must be in good working condition and capable of starting the car. Cars must leave pits and starting line under their own power.
Wings:
Not allowed.
Engine Claim:
The manner of protest in the Street Stock class will be by engine claim:
Engine Claim will be the same as I.M.C.A CLAIM!!!!!!

You Must Have I.M.C.A. License to claim. If you choose not to buy a license you are still elegible to have your motor claimed!!!
