2000 Mini Stock Rules
As received January 21, 2000, from Speedway Management, Inc.
General:
All components are subject to inspection and approval of inspecting officials. No equipment will be considered as having been approved by reason of having passed through inspection unobserved. These rules will also be the basis for the Street Stock Class during the 2000 and 2001 racing seasons, though the management reserves the right to make any necessary changes to enhance the racing program or safety.
Terms:
The term "stock O.E.M." means that the item/part must have been a standard part/item on the MAKE and MODEL of the vehicle being driven as a race car. Just because a part is manufactured by the company that manufactured the vehicle does NOT mean the part is legal. The part must have been available on the specific vehicle being used as a race car.
Body:
- Two or four door sedan body with steel top. Station wagons are okay. No
sport coupes or convertibles allowed. Production wheelbase is limited to a
maximum of 102". Complete bodies, hoods, trunk lids, and bumpers must
remain stock.

Front wheel drive cars are acceptable.

Cars must have complete frame (no cutting).

All cars must have a minimum six point roll cage. All roll cages must be
made of 1 1/4" minimum outside diameter by .095" minimum wall thickness
steel tubing with all corners bent (no welded square corners). All cages
must have three horizontal bars running from front to back between the
upright bars on both sides of the driver. Cage must have minimum
2"x6"x1/4" plates under floor with two (2) 1/2" bolts (minimum) through
each plate. Any bracing inside the car body is allowed. Under the hood
(engine compartment) bracing is allowed. No bracing under fenders.

All interior glass, chrome, door handles, lights, trim, and/or anything
else that may come loose on impact muse be removed.

All flamable material (except driver seat and headrest) must be removed.

All doors must be welded or bolted closed.

Fenders may be cut for tire clearance. No internal reinforcing of the
fender allowed.

All cars must have a complete firewall separating the engine and driver,
and also a complete firewall separating the fuel container and the driver.

No channel or angle iron allowed on outside body of the car.
-
Nerf bars are optional, but if used, the bar must be within one (1) inch of
the body and be turned inside to the body at the ends. No sharp edges
allowed.

All cars must have a minimum of two (2) hood pins.
-
No center drive cars.
-
Minimum weight is 2,200 pounds with driver.
Bumpers:
- Must remain stock, may be reinforced between frame rails, inside bumper
with 1 1/2" outside diameter tubing minimum.

"Shock absorber" type bumpers must be welded so as to deactivate the shock
absorber.
Engine:
- In line four cylinder engines only with a maximum displacement of 2,300 cc
(carb. type only), maximum .060" overbore allowed. Must have a working
starter.
- No rotary engines or turbos.
- No dual overhead cams.
- Engine must remain in stock position, with stock mounts. Short chains may
be used to secure the engine to the frame.
- Stock engine and drive train only.
- Engine must match car make and model.
- O.E.M. replacement parts are acceptable for car make and model.
- Must use stock intake and exhaust manifold. No tubing headers.
- Heads may be milled. No porting or polishing.
- O.E.M. carburetor for make and model is allowed. Optional - one (1) Holley
#4412 two (2) barrel 500 cfm carburetor. Must maintain stock venturi bore,
stock throttle body, and stock booster location and height. Will be checked
with a go/no-go guage.
- Battery type ignition in stock location only. No magnetos, dual points,
MSD type boxes, or any other after market electronic ignitions allowed.
Drive Train:
- Standard shift cars must use stock flywheel and clutch. Automatic
transmission cars must use torque converters.
- All cars must have a clutch scatter shield or blanket of 6" width and 12"
length. Scatter shield may be fabricated from 1/4" minimum steel and
secured to the floor, covering the clutch area.
- Transmissions must have all gears working.
- Locked rear ends are allowed.
- Rear end must be stock for the make and model.
- All car drive shafts must be painted white and have a minimum of two safety
loops.
Suspension:
- Stock for car make and model. No spacers, lumber, etc. may be used to
alter suspension of car.
Tires/Wheels:
- Any steel wheel with a maximum of 7" width. Offset wheels are allowed.
Plating, washers, or double nuts are allowed. No aluminum wheels.
- Tires must be 60 or 70 series street tires only. No mud or knobbies or 80
series tires.
- All tires must use inner tubes. Any flat or loss of wheel requires leaving
the track immediately.
- No bead locks.
- No grooving of tires.
Radiator:
- Must remain in stock location. Only one (1) radiator allowed.
Steering:
- The stock steering box, must be in the original stock location on the
frame.
- Center steering is NOT allowed.
- "Quick steering" by use of chain and sprockets or by use of a steering
reduction box is permitted.
Batteries:
- All cars must have a strong battery and a working starter.
- Batteries must be relocated away from the engine compartment and secured to
the floor with a minimum of two (2) steel straps with 3/8" bolts.
Batteries must be mounted in a marine box to prevent acid from spilling
into the car.
Fuel:
- Pump or track gasoline only (no additives, no nitro, and no alcohol).
- Fuel tank must be six gallons maximum, except for racing fuel cells, which
may be any size. The tank or cell must be mounted to the floor with a
minimum of two steel straps with bolts. The tank or cell must be insulated
from the floor with rubber. The tank or cell must be located a minimum of
twelve (12) inches from either side of the car and sixteen (16) inches from
the rear of the car body. A vent hose must be clamped in place and
secured. All filler necks must be inside the car and must have either an
O.E.M. or screw type cap. The floor in the fuel tank area must have holes
to allow spilled fuel to drain out of the car. "G.I." gas cans and
outboard metal or plastic gas cans are permitted. Fabricated tanks must be
.040 gage metal minimum.
Brakes:
- All cars must have a minimum of two working brakes. Three or four wheel
brakes are recommended.
Painting:
- Cars must be brightly painted in colors that contrast with the number.
- All cars and their advertising must be CLEAN, NEAT, and IN GOOD TASTE.
- CAR NUMBERS: All cars must be registered with North Texas Motor Speedway
before racing. Any car with a registered number which earned money during
the season will have that number reserved through the first practice
session of the next season. Any registered number without winning money
will be reserved only until the end of the current race season.
- There will be no duplication of numbers.
- Numbers must be at least sixteen (16) inches high and three (3) inches
thick. The numbers must be on each side of the car and on the roof of the
car, with the bottom of the number facing the grandstand. There will be no
letters used as numbers. Place a six (6) inch tall number on the front of
the car and on the rear of the car so that it may be seen by the starter
and other drivers for the line up.
Safety:
- All cars must have racing type three inch wide lap belt and racing type
harness with a single point release. All belts must be bolted to the
chassis or the roll bar with a minimum of 3/8" aircraft or grade eight (8)
bolts. Shoulder belts must be bolted behind and below the driver's
shoulders. Lap belts must be bolted below and behind the driver's hips.
- All drivers must wear Snell approved helmets.
- All drivers must wear driving suits made of fire resistant material that
effectively covers the driver's body.
- All cars must have a working fire extinguisher mounted on the right side of
the driver's compartment, within reach of the driver. The extinguisher
must be securely mounted to prevent coming loose on impact, but must be
easily removable. No taping of fire extinguisher to the roll cage, etc.
- All cars should have a racing safety net on the driver's window, inside the
body, which is removable. There must also be a wire mesh on the windshield
area. The wire mesh must be 1/2"x1/2" minimum to 1"x1" maximum, 16 gage
steel minimum. The mesh must cover the windshield area from hood to roof
and extend across the car from the left roof pillar to the center of the
car. The mesh may cover the entire windshield area. The mesh must be
securely welded or bolted to the body and/or roll cage. All cars must have
two vertical bars in the windshield area in front of the driver with a
maximum of 17" opening (measured in any direction) to prevent large objects
from entering the car. These bars may be part of the roll cage or separate
bars welded or bolted to the body.
- All cars must have a padded headrest for the driver's seat.
- No rearview mirrors.
- No brake or outside warning lights.
- No radios.
Driver:
- Drivers must be eighteen years old, except with track and parent's written
permission, drivers may be sixteen years old.
NEW CARS WHICH ARE NOT COMPLETELY LEGAL MAY BE ALLOWED TO COMPETE ONE TIME
ONLY, AT THE DISCRETION OF THE INSPECTORS AND PROMOTER. AT NO TIME WILL AN
UNSAFE CAR BE ALLOWED ON THE TRACK.
